Vacation Bible Camp
St. Paul’s annual Vacation Bible Camp is a celebration of our love for God and of our fabulous young people! Each year we designate a special theme that engages children and youth in hands-on, experiential, and inspired ministry. We use music, art, storytelling and dramatic play to explore the foundational stories of our faith, our denomination and the role we play in our community today. Assisted by teen “shepherds”, children engage in creative crafts and activities, perform meaningful community service, and enjoy lots of snacks, games and water play.
Themes from previous years include:
- City of God, where we learned that the City of God isn't about the buildings but about the love that binds us to one another!
- St. Francis in the Garden, in which we learned how many of our practices today – such as live Christmas pageants and the Blessing of the Animals – were established by Francis. We also continued his work in serving the poor by harvesting produce from our garden for donation to local food pantries.
- Seuss on the Loose, in which we learned that beneath the silly, silly stories of Dr. Seuss, we can learn a lot about faith and friendship.
- Draw the Circle Wide, in which we learned the many ways in which children can serve their neighbors, from those closest to home to those around the world.
Vacation Bible Camp runs for a single week during late June or early July, from Monday through Friday, in the afternoons. It is for children aged 3/12 and older (who are potty-trained). Teens and tweens are especially invited as helpers.
