Music at St. Paul's
From traditional choir to contemporary ensemble, from handbells to our youth praise band, from listening and enjoying performances to taking part in liturgical dance -- music is central to life at St. Paul's! See below for ways to get involved, and check out our Concert Series for this season's schedule of musical performances.

Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir, under the direction of Doug Starr, sings at the 10:45 service and specializes in singing the great hymns and historic music of the Church. Supported by our magnificent pipe organ and other instrumentalists, this choir of high school age and adult singers offers wonderful choral anthems, descants, and leads our singing of Psalms and chant. We rehearse Thursdays during the program year from 7:30 until 8:45 PM and again on Sunday morning at 9:45 AM. Music reading ability and choral singing experience are a plus but not a requirement. Chancel Choir is a great source of fellowship, musicianship, and spirituality so please join us.
Contemporary Music Ensemble
Our Contemporary Music Ensemble (a.k.a., Jam Session), under the direction of Doug Starr, plays at the 8:45 services and provides more contemporary music enjoyed by people of all ages. The ensemble includes piano, guitar, bass and sometimes other instruments. Jam Session rehearses periodically on Saturday mornings in the church from 9:30 until 10:45 AM.
Canterbury Choir
This Youth Choir of school-age children offers boys and girls a glorious singing experience under the direction of Bryan Sable. This choir sings periodically at both the 8:45 and 10:45 services as well as at the Christmas Pageant and at certain services during Holy Week. Canterbury Choir rehearses on Sundays during the program year from 10:45 until 11:15 AM.
Youth Praise Band
This music ensemble, under the direction of Bryan Sable, consists of middle school and high school age youth. Musical styles are a bit more modern and the ensemble includes piano, guitars, bass, and percussion. Praise Band plays at the 8:45 service once a month during the program year as well as at the Christmas Pageant and the Epiphany service. Praise Band also provides musical accompaniment to our annual Vacation Bible School. The group rehearses Wednesdays during the program year in the church from 5:30 until 6:30 PM.
Handbell Choir
This group rehearses Thursdays at 6:15 p.m. during the school year and is open to teens and adults. The only requirement for joining this group is a good sense of humor and a desire to grow as a musician! No prior experience needed! Under the direction of Bryan Sable, Handbell Choir rehearses Thursdays during the program year from 6:15 until 7:15 PM.
Liturgical Dance Team
The Liturgical Dance Team of school-age young women is under the direction of Annette Tierney and enhances festive liturgies such as the Palm Sunday procession of palms. The group rehearses as needed prior to the service.
