Confirmation
The youth Confirmation program at St. Paul’s is a two year process in which young people explore the promises which were made for them at their Baptism and determine if they are called to make those promises for themselves as Confirmands. During their 7th and 8th grade year, Confirmands follow the "I Will with God’s Help" curriculum, along with Jennifer Gamber’s “My Faith, My Life.” Young people attend weekly classes, worship together, and perform community service projects. At the end of 7th grade, Confirmands go on retreat where they share individual faith projects which they have prepared. During their 8th grade year, Confirmands are invited to participate in mission trip preparation and fundraising activities in anticipation of going on the mission trip at the end of the school year.
During the Confirmation process, young people are highly encouraged to serve as acolytes, family ushers, or to perform with the Youth Praise Band. Likewise, they are encouraged attend JR EYC (youth group) and other parish social events regularly. The more engaged a young person is in parish life, the better equipped they will be to make the important decision to be Confirmed.
Older youth and adults may also choose to be confirmed. Their preparations are customized to their particular needs and are made in collaboration with the clergy or other designated faith companion.
