Taize Worship
Join us for Taizé
Tuesday, March 15 at 7pm
Taizé worship, which takes its name after the ecumenical monastic community begun in the French town of Taizé , has sought to be a place of refuge ever since in founding in 1940. In a literal sense, the community emerged in the wake of the French defeat during World War II, and found its chief identity in offering shelter to war refugees. And what began then has only flourished over the last several decades: even to this day, in the midst of our own 21st century maelstroms, Taizé worship witnesses to the power of stillness, communal prayer, and simple rhythmic song, and therein leads one into the refuge that is God’s presence.
We will be offering a service in the style of Taize Tuesday, March 15 at 7:00 p.m. in the Church. This will be a time to corporately explore the Lenten themes of repentance, simplicity, and longing for resurrection through song, prayer and silence. Lasting about 40 minutes, this service will allow you a contemplative space to delve deeper into the Easter mystery of death giving way to eternal life.
