Ordination of Alyse Viggiano
We are pleased to announce that the Standing Committee of the Diocese has approved the recommendation of the Commission on Ministry and Bishop to ordain our parishioner and seminarian Alyse Viggiano to the Sacred Order of Deacons on Saturday, June 4 at 10 a.m. at Trinity Cathedral in Pittsburgh. Alyse is finishing her second year at Virginia Theological Seminary and will graduate with her Master in Divinity agree a year from now. It is likely that Alyse will be ordained to the priesthood after graduating from seminary. All members of St. Paul's are invited to Alyse's ordination and reception that will follow.
In addition to your ongoing prayers, there are two ways you can help support Alyse:
Seminary Cost Support
Alyse is finishing her second year of seminary, is about to be ordained as a transitional Deacon, will be spending the summer doing an intensive program called Clinical Pastoral Education, and has one more year of seminary before graduating a year from now. We are all very proud of Alyse, and we all want to see her graduate debt-free from seminary if at all possible. Clergy, particularly new clergy, are generally underpaid, and student debt can be extremely difficult to handle. As our seminarian, I pray that the people of St. Paul's will continue to be generous in their financial support of Alyse's time at Virginia Seminary. Tuition, room, board, books, and incidentals add up fast. Won't you join in supporting Alyse by making a contribution to St. Paul's with "Alyse - seminary" noted in the memo line? Many thanks for your generosity.
Ordination Gift
Also, if you would like to participate in a gift from St. Paul's for Alyse upon her ordination to the Sacred Order of Deacons on June 4, please write a check to St. Paul's and note "Alyse - ordination gift" on the memo line. Thank you again for your generosity.
