Music Notes for June 19
We Sunday welcome Tenor Ryan Brock and his wife, mezzo soprano, Jessica Brock. They will sing at the prelude and at the offertory anthem. Ryan was one of more than a dozen choral scholars from Carnegie Mellon who sang with us between 2006 and 2010. At the prelude Ryan will sing the rousing spiritual, Ride on King Jesus and Jessica will sing a solo part at the offertory in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s, Pie Jesu from Requiem.
Next week, violinist Mimi Jung returns to play at the prelude, communion and elsewhere in the liturgy. This will be her last performance in Pittsburgh before she begins her Master's studies in Maastricht, Holland with Prof. Yuzuko Horigome.
In July, beautiful special music at the prelude, anthems and communion will be offered by our talented parish musicians: Katy and Rich Williams, Bryan Sable, our Music Assistant, Sam Viggiano (who sang so beautifully at his sister’s June Ordination to the Deaconate), Kathleen Hendricks with choir in Vivaldi’s “Domine deus” from Gloria, Susan Vines and Cathie Buschek in works for Piano-four hands, Alice Lee in an aria from Bach’s St. John Passion, Chris Thompson singing an American Spiritual, and Ginnie Schaap in voice and on piccolo!
