Music Notes for August
On August 14, we welcome cellist and parishioner Dawn Paulus who plays works for cello at the prelude and at the communion. Dawn performs cello in the community and works as Assistant/Aprentice Luthier at Resonance Violins here in Mt. Lebanon. She studied cello at Cleveland State University and Duquesne. When not playing cello for us you will see Dawn and her husband Jon on the altar serving as lector and Eucharistic ministers. We are so proud to have these young people at St. Paul’s in music and worship.
Kicking off the Friends of Music Guild Concert Series will be the first of three performances by our Choral Arts Ensemble in Residence, Voces Solis- otherwise know in the summer as Summer Singers!
Also on August 14 at 7:00 pm we present an amazing evening of choral singing. The temperature is rising, and that can only mean one thing--it’s time for the fifth annual performance by Pittsburgh’s own Summer Singers! Join us as we celebrate five years of choral excellence with a diverse program featuring the music of Abbie Betinis, Sergei Rachmaninov, Hugo Distler, Imant Raminsh, Moses Hogan, and more. It’s beautiful music in a great space and a great way to heat up your August!
