Make a Difference in People’s Lives with Hosanna Industries
For several years, St. Paul’s has been supporting Hosanna Industries in nearby Rochester, Pa. Hosanna began in 1990 when a Presbyterian pastor sought to make an impact on the lives of those struggling with extreme poverty. It also realizes that everyone can offer some sort of service to Christ through work. Hosanna is best known for “blitz builds,” in which they build an entire house – from floor to roof – in one week for a family in need. However, they also do a wide variety of other mission work, such as building ramps to help those with limited mobility get into and out of their homes, or providing needed repairs and winterization to keep families healthy and safe.
Hosanna has also helped St. Paul’s in the past. They have offered our youth group construction training in advance of their annual mission trip to West Virginia.
We hope to work more closely with Hosanna in the future, and perhaps volunteer on some of these great building opportunities. One of the great things about Hosanna is that they can find ways for everyone in a group to help – from children to those whose construction days are behind them. There is no age limit for those who want to be part of a Hosanna Industries mission group (although young children should be accompanied by their parents).
As part of this effort, a group from St. Paul’s will be heading to Hosanna Industries’ Gibsonia campus on Saturday, April 23 for one of their “campus days.” This will be a chance to do some hands-on work at Hosanna Industries, helping prepare their Gibsonia campus for other groups. It will also provide an opportunity for people to get to know more about the people at Hosanna, and how they work.
We will meet at St. Paul’s at 8AM to carpool to the work site. If you would like to go, or have any questions, please email Michelle or Garrett, so we know you will be coming. Hosanna will be providing lunch, so we would really like to be able to let them know how many we will bring.
Hope to see you there!Tags: Messenger April 2016 / Outreach / Youth Mission Trip: McDowell County, WV / Mission Trips / Local & National Outreach Projects / Young Adult Group
